WATCH: Jaelen Strong Catches Hail Mary Before Halftime

Jaelen Strong has finally started his NFL career.

The rookie from Arizona State came on for only one play in the first half, and ended up making the biggest play of the game. Brian Hoyer threw one last pass to the endzone before halftime, and a leaping Strong made the catch for his first NFL score.

Strong is getting an increased role due to injuries to veteran receivers Cecil Shorts and Nate Washington. Despite the injuries Houston hasn’t changed their offense, attempting 23 passes in the first half.

The Texans needed a huge play, after a disappointing first half on both sides of the ball. Andre Johnson scored his first tochdown of the season in his Houston reunion, and injuries to both Ryan Mallett and Arian Foster had the Texans offense shuffling. But Brian Hoyer came in and had immediate success, finishing the half with 127 passing yards.

Jaelen Strong is hoping the catch will improve his position on the depth chart. Strong is currently behind fifth-round pick Keith Mumphery, who started tonight’s game.
