With table leaders Leicester City off until Monday, Arsenal could finish the day at the top of the table with a win over Aston Villa. It would cap an outstanding week for Arsenal, who scored three goals in Greece earlier this week to see them through to the Champions League Knockout Stage.
For Aston Villa, things have not been going as well. Villa is winless in 14 consecutive matches, and is eight points deep in the relegation zone. It won’t help that Arsenal is unbeaten in 16 Premier League matches a Villa Park. Villa might get Jack Grealish back into the lineup, but it won’t help a team that is on their longest winless streak in their 127-year history.
Arsenal may be flying high, but the elephant in the room is the long list of injuries. Losing players like Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck are less of a concern, however, when Olivier Giroud continues his recent form. He’s scored four goals to start December, including a hat-trick against Olympiakos on Wednesday.
