Manchester United’s Champions League hopes are in doubt. After an early goal from Anthony Martial put United up 1-0, Wolfsburg answered back with two goals in the opening thirty minutes.
United had allowed just three goals in their last ten matches, but has now allowed two early scores.
Wolfsburg only needs a draw to advance to the knockout stage, while Manchester United need a win to ensure safe passage. PSV Eindhoven can pass them with a win, as they take on CSKA Moscow simultaneously.
Wolfsburg’s passing has been tremendous. Their second goal was a brilliant piece of teamwork, ending up with Vierinha and an open net.
It has been a wonderful start for United that has quickly gone sour. Heading into today’s match, scoring was figured to be the biggest issue for the side. With Wayne Rooney sidelined with an ankle injury, United’s attack lies on the young shoulders of Anthony Martial. The 20-year old has struggled recently, but answered the call with a low goal in the game’s opening minutes.
