So it turns out the rumors were indeed true. Weeks ago, the online wrestling dirtsheets told us that several New Japan Wrestling stars had just signed on to become new members of the WWE roster.
During the 2016 Royal Rumble match, one of those new signees debuted way earlier than expected. AJ Styles (a former alum of Ring of Honor, TNA Wrestling, several other independent wrestling promotions and NJPW) showed up as the 3rd match entrant. And as expected, the live crowd (and everyone watching at home) lost their minds. AJ put on a fine performance and lasted a long time as he fought against WWE’s toughest competition. Even though he got eliminated by Kevin Owens, we were still more than happy to finally witness AJ Styles arrive in the WWE as the international star he’s celebrated as.
