WWE Roadblock 2016 Preview: Matches & Predictions

So it turns out there’s a few issues that need some ironing out before WrestleMania 32.

Come March 12, 2016, the WWE Network will produce a brand new special event – WWE Roadblock. The main event will feature everyone’s beloved lunatic Dean Ambrose. He’ll step into the ring to face off with the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Triple H. That huge title bout will be featured on the same card as an NXT Tag Team Championship match and a grudge match between Brock Lesnar and Bray Wyatt. Will Ambrose throw the WrestleMania 32 main event into disarray or will HHH retain and take on Roman Reigns at the Grandaddy of ‘Em All?

Check out our match predictions for this WWE Network exclusive event.

The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and/or Xavier Woods) (c) vs. The League of Nations (Sheamus and King Barrett) (WWE Tag Team Championship)

WWE Roadblock 2016

Predictions & Winners: Well, okay. This match came out of left field. We thought these two stables were heading on the fast track to a big WrestleMania matchup, but it looks like they’re gonna lock up much earlier than that. While The New Day has mocked The New Day at previous events, they haven’t been able to build up much of a prolonged feud in the last few weeks. While this random pairing will no doubt produce a solid matchup, it seems strange for both these teams to just be thrown into a match that hasn’t had some stronger storytelling behind it. Wait…this match might go down at ‘Mania 32 after all. Here us out – The New Day will somehow retain their titles through some nefarious means. Sheamus and Barrett will of course be less than pleased with this results. So Rusev and Rio will come out to punish The New Day along with their stablemates. This may lead to The New Day transitioning into full babyfaces over time, which will then lead into The New Day adopting a surprise partner for a 4-on-4 tag team match against The League of Nations at ‘Mania 32.

The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) (c) vs. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady (with Carmella) (NXT Tag Team Championship)

WWE Roadblock 2016

Predictions & Winners: The NXT tag team championship picture is packed with some viable teams. The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) tapped into their old school methods (breaking down limbs and getting as rough as possible in the ring) to capture the titles. Their ongoing feud with Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady is getting even more intense. They put on a great match during NXT’s UK live event and we know they’ll put on another great bout. This one’s gonna be more of a fight than a technically sound grappling contest. While we’d love to see Amore and Cassady FINALLY win the titles that have alluded them for so long, our gut tells us that The Revival’s reign as champs won’t end here. As a matter of fact, we think they’re dropping the belts to American Alpha at the next NXT event.

Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman) vs. Bray Wyatt (with Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman)

WWE Roadblock 2016

Predictions & Winner: WOW! We thought this match was going down at ‘Mania 32 before Lesnar’s street fight with Ambrose was announced. On paper, this looks like a squash match in the making. But when the time comes for these men to go to war, we think the rest of the Wyatt Family will play a big part during the match’s proceedings. Lesnar will manhandle Bray during the bout’s opening moments, but the distraction of the other Wyatt clan members will eventually throw Lesnar off his game. Bray will lay in a few good moves and manage to bring Lesnar down to at least one knee for a while. But in the end, Lesnar will tear through Bray and the rest of his stable. One F5 to Bray later and Lesnar will be the victor here. Then Lesnar will go on to his big ‘Mania matchup with Dean Ambrose.

Triple H (c) vs. Dean Ambrose (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

WWE Roadblock 2016

Predictions & Winner: Did you pay attention to how hot the crowd was during the closing moments of the 2016 Royal Rumble? These two Superstars put on a short but exciting match before HHH eliminated Ambrose from the match. Now both men will meet up in a big main event that may or may not change the main event at ‘Mania 32. Ambrose is known to fight to his dying breath, while HHH is known to be a destroyer of men. This match will surely end up being the best match of the entire event. We know there’s gonna be a few moments where it actually looks like Ambrose will walk out as the victor. But our heart tells us HHH will retain his championship through nefarious means and go on to the main event of ‘Mania 32. Triple H vs. Roman Reigns will go down as planned, folks.
