30,000 runners will take to the streets of New England on Monday, as the Boston Marathon kicks off Patriots Day festivities. What is just a fun experience for some is a serious race for others, with over $800,000 being handed out to the fastest runners. 2015 men’s winner Lelisa Desisa is from Ethiopia, and will be seeking his third career Boston Marathon win. The favorite in the women’s division is Kenyan Rita Jeptoo, who set the course record in victory last year with a time of 2:18:57.
Pre-race coverage will start at 7 a.m. and can be seen on WBZ in the Boston Area, and on NBC Sports Network everywhere else. Here’s how to watch the race online and on mobile devices:
