Preview

In Game 1, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, one of the most prolific offense duos in the NBA, combined for 20 points on 8-of-27 shooting. And the Dubs still won by 15.

Following such an impressive performance, Golden State is quite popular among bettors. Per OddsShark, 58 percent of the bets are coming in on the Dubs at minus-6.

With as good as the Warriors looked in Game 1 despite the struggles of their stars, despite coming off a draining seven-game series and despite shooting just 33.3 percent from deep, it’s tough to pick against them in Game 2.

The over-under of 208.5, meanwhile, is an interesting bet.

Considering each team’s offensive firepower, the over seems like the obvious pick.

However, Golden State’s defense was excellent in Game 1, keeping the total to just 193. Moreover, in the six NBA finals games between these teams last year, the average total was 194.2, while not one game hit 208.5. Game 1, which went to overtime, was closest at 208. The circumstances this time around are obviously different, but it’s an indication of how finals games tend to be more physical and defense-oriented.

So, while 54 percent of the population is betting the “over” on 208.5, don’t just look at all the offensive stars on the court and immediately assume this will turn into a shootout.
