Portugal were expected to cruise to the second round of Euro 2016, favored to win a group with Iceland, Hungary and Austria. But the squad needed two goals from Ronaldo to survive against Hungary, and three draws with a small goal differential was enough to see them through.
Croatia were not expected to win Group D, but defeated Spain in the group finale to take the first seed. It was a great response from the squad, after Croatian Ultras stated their intentions of getting the team kicked out of the tournament. They defeated Spain 2-1 without midfield dynamo Luka Modrić, who was injured in the 2-2 draw against Czech Republic and is questionable for Saturday’s match.
