Preview

For the third time in four years, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid meet in a high-stakes contest of European football.

Real Madrid are in the Final Four of Champions League for a record-setting seventh straight season, and are in position to raise some hefty silverware at the end of this season. Zinedine Zidane, who is still in his first full season as Madrid manager, has a chance to lead his team to glory in both Spain and Europe, something Madrid hasn’t achieved since 1957-58. But as always, domestic rivals stand in Madrid’s path to success.

It’s yet another Real Madrid draw for Atletico, who have faced off with Los Blancos 14 times over the last three seasons. The bigger team in Madrid has prevented Diego Simeone’s squad from two Champions League finals in the past four years, both by narrow margins. Despite four European meetings with Real Madrid, Los Colchoneros have yet to score a victory over their cross-town counterparts.

Injuries at the back will make Atletico’s trip to the Bernabeu on Tuesday even more difficult. Simeone will be without three of his defenders for the matchup, including starting right back Juanfran. Zidane will likely be without Gareth Bale, but could see French international Varane return from a hamstring injury.

Kickoff is at 2:45 p.m. Eastern and will air on Fox Sports 1. Keep this page refreshed after kickoff for the latest updates.
