The Ole Miss Rebels have been dealing with trying to get an extra year of eligibility for Trinidad Chambliss. Chambliss was one of the best quarterbacks at the end of the 2025 season. He led them to a victory over Georgia in the College Football Playoff.

Following a brutal loss to Miami, Chambliss immediately re-signed with Ole Miss. However, that was contingent on his being able to land an extra year of eligibility. Since that moment, the NCAA has denied his request for that extra year, but the university is appealing.

During this appeal process, quarterbacks coach Joe Judge was asked to testify on Chambliss’ behalf. During his testimony, Judge made a very bizarre comment regarding pregnant women who are dating Ole Miss players.

Ole Miss Rebels Coach Gives Strange Comment Regarding Pregnant Women

As part of his testimony, Judge let everyone know that coaches have to tell pregnant women who are dating players not to interrupt their sleep because they need to perform well on game day.

“We would have to educate. This is always a tough conversation to have. It’s not a popular opinion, but this is the truth. We would have to educate significant others who may have been pregnant during the season, or going to have a baby during the season…you have this baby during the season, that father has to play good football.”

Judge continued his thought process, which got even stranger.

“It’s a day-by-day production business. He has to be ready to perform and go out there and play. And when I say that, is you need to let him sleep. He needs to be in another room, detached. We need to explain to the mothers like, he ain’t getting up for midnight feedings.”

Judge, the former head coach of the New York Giants, clearly has some out-of-the-box thinking when it comes to getting his players to perform well. As the quarterbacks coach, this is something he is preaching to Chambliss and the rest of the quarterbacks in the room.

Ole Miss Rebels Still Fighting for Trinidad Chambliss

The Rebels continue to try to do everything they can to help Chambliss get additional eligibility. They have now exhausted every avenue to try to get Chambliss another year, so Ole Miss has another chance to make the College Football Playoff next season.

Chambliss is arguing that he deserves another year of eligibility due to a missed medical redshirt opportunity while he was at Ferris State. If he is not given an extra year, he will have to declare for the NFL Draft. He would likely make more money through NIL opportunities at Ole Miss, which is why he is in this fight.

The Rebels will need to have a definitive ruling on his status by the end of the month so they can prepare during Spring ball with the roster they have. Chambliss will, too, so he can prepare for the NFL Draft if he can’t go back to school.
