Jasprit Bumrah put in a performance to remember in the T20 Cricket World Cup Final against England.

It was a historic night for T20 Cricket when India defeated England for its third T20 World Cup title. They dominated New Zealand, registering a commanding 96-run victory.

A 96-run victory in a World Cup match is a monumental achievement. It’s like a team winning the NHL‘s Stanley Cup by 8-0 or the NFL‘s Super Bowl winner defeating their opponents 36-2 to take the title.

It’s a big deal, the biggest of deals.

India wouldn’t have won the World Cup if it weren’t for Sanju Samson, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ishan Kishan (to name a few). If you watched the match or were too busy to follow along, here is everything you need to know about the match.

Highlights From the India vs England T20 Cricket World Cup Final

The first three batters in India’s order did the majority of the heavy lifting. The likes of Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Kishan put together 89-run, 52-run, and 54-run performances, respectively.

The final score of the match was 255/5 to 159/10, in favor of India.

With Kishan and Sharma, 4s and 6s were flying off the shelf. Sharma knocked six 4s and three sixes, while Kishan recorded four each.

India vs England Player of the Match

The Player of the Match award was given to Bumrah. He delivered a masterful bowling performance, getting timely wickets and limiting the opposition to a minuscule number of runs.

Bumrah bowled four overs and only surrendered 15 runs. Additionally, he collected four wickets and posted a 3.75 Economy.

Bumrah finished the T20 Cricket World Cup tournament with 14 wickets. He was tied with his teammate Varun Chakaravarthy for the most wickets in the 2026 World Cup.

Bumrah’s 4/15 figure was the sixth-best in the tournament and fourth-best among bowlers who bowled four overs in those performances. Additionally, he finished the tournament with 76 dot balls, the third-most among all bowlers.

He has 121 wickets in his entire T20I career.

Player of the Series: Sanju Samson

Bumrah led the charge in stalling New Zealand’s chase, whil Samson’s bat gave India the necessary lead it needed.

Samson put together an 89-run knock, which was highlighted by five 4s and eight 6s.

Additionally, he was voted the Player of the Series, and for good reason too. Samson finished third in runs with 321 over the course of the tournament.

He only played five matches during the course of the T20 Cricket World Cup tournament. However, Samson hit 97-run and 85-run performances before his record-breaking innings against New Zealand.

When all was said and done, Samson finished the 2026 T20 World Cup with 27 4s. Remarkably, he finished the tournament with the most 6s out of any batter. His 24 maximums were four more than the next highest total of 20 struck by Finn Allen.

Samson’s highest score of 97 was the eigth-best score of the tournament. During that knock, he recorded an incredible 12 4s and four 6s enroute to a 199/5 to 195/4 score.

With another ICC T20 World Cup two long years away, this was a high note to go out on until the next installment.
