3 Big Reasons to watch RR vs CSK

We are two T20 cricket matches down in the 2026 IPL season schedule. So far, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians have come out on top against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively. Now, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and the Rajasthan Royals go head to head with the Chennai Super Kings.

Today’s match takes place at ACA Stadium in Guwahati. The match is scheduled to 7:30 PM IST, 8:00 AM Mountain Time, 10:00 AM Eastern Time.

It’s not tennis or golf, but the shortest format of the cricket sport is sure to entertain its most harsh critic. With that in mind, here are three big reasons why RR vs CSK is a must-see match.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Will Hit 2026 IPL’s First Ton

Match Prediction: Suryavanshi will knock 105 runs.

So far in the early 2026 IPL season, the Orange Cap belongs to Mumbai Indians batter Ryan Rickelton. He recorded an 81-run knock in MI’s 224-run chase of Kolkata Knight Riders. In that chase, Rickelton hit four fours and eight sixes.

With Suryavanshi set to open the powerplay for RR, the young phenom is poised to break the ton plateau this tournament.

Suryavanshi turned 15 the day before the IPL season began, but he has already proven to be one of the league’s best players. He only has seven IPL matches under his belt, and has already recorded the second-fastest century in IPL history (35 deliveries).

That ton came in his third IPL match against the Gujarat Titans. Suryavanshi most recently knocked 57 off 33 deliveries against CSK in the final RR match of the 2025 tournament.

However, considering that the youngster is just a little bit older and more seasoned, hitting the IPL’s first ton of the year feels like the right prediction.

T20 Cricket World Cup Champion Will Be CSK’s Best Hitter

Match Prediction: Sanju Samson knocks 80+ before his fall of the wickets in the 16th over.

Sanju Samson may have played with Suryavanshi at one point, but now the two will go head-to-head in this March 30th matchup. Samson is coming off the high of helping India become the first country to ever win three T20 World Cups. In the process, Samson became the batter with the highest run total in a World Cup Finals match.

Riding that high should be no problem for Samson, who has turned into CSK’s best hitter.

Samson’s recent form of 97 runs and back-to-back 89-run knocks suggests that he is ready to beat his 2025 high score (66). With those big knocks in mind, it’s easy to see Samson staying in the match until the death overs.

Dasun Shanaka Will Prove That He Belongs

Match Prediction: Shanaka will record a 40-run, two-wicket performance.

Prior to the 2026 IPL season, the all-rounder Dasun Shanaka was added to the Suryavanshi squad. He was brought in to replace the injured Sam Curran.

Shanaka is a solid all-rounder whose recent form includes an unbeaten 76-run performance against Pakistan at the T20 World Cup. Shanaka’s best bowling figures are 3/16, with a 2/16 figure earned in the 2025-26 ILT20.

Google gives RR the slight edge in win probability (with 53 percent). That makes this match an exciting one for both clubs to launch their 2026 IPL seasons.
