The Boston Red Sox are set to play the Chicago White Sox at Fenway Park at 7:10 p.m. EDT on Thursday.
Before Thursday’s game, the Red Sox announced an injury update on first baseman Triston Casas.

MassLive’s Chris Cotillo wrote on X: “Triston Casas had arthroscopic wrist surgery today, Red Sox announce.”
Casas last appeared in a game for Boston in May 2025. He suffered a season-ending knee injury that required surgery.
In April, Casas suffered a left abdominal strain while rehabbing his knee.
Manager Chad Tracy announced in July that Casas had been shut down to an injured wrist, per Cotillo.
“He’s gone through a lot, between the knee, then he had a little hamstring flareup, obviously the oblique and he’s come back from that and now there’s a wrist that’s popped up,” Tracy said. “We’ll keep an eye and once he’s able to, keep progressing.”
Looking at Triston Casas’ Career
The Red Sox selected Casas in the first round (No. 26 overall) of the 2018 MLB Draft from American Heritage High School in Plantation, FLA.
Casas, 26, made his MLB debut with Boston in 2022. In 27 games that season, he hit .197/.358/.408 with five home runs and 12 RBI.
Casas had a strong 2023 season, posting 2.2 bWAR and a .263/.367/.490 slash line with 24 home runs, 21 doubles and 65 RBI over 132 games.
Unfortunately, Casas suffered a left rib strain in late 2023, which kept him sidelined for most of the 2024 season.
In 2024, Casas hit .241/.337/.462 with 12 home runs and 32 RBI over 63 games.
Casas appeared in just 29 games last year before suffering his knee injury. He slashed .182/.277/.303 with three home runs and 11 RBI that season.

The Red Sox won the first two games of their three-game series against the White Sox.
Before that, Boston swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in three games.
The Red Sox are the second American League Wild Card team with a 62-51 record. They are just one game back of the New York Yankees for the first Wild Card spot.
As for the division standings, Boston is 5 1/2 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the American League East.
