Toronto Blue Jays Star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Will Make History In Guardians Game

On Friday night, the Toronto Blue Jays will open up a series with the Cleveland Guardians in Canada.

The Blue Jays are coming off a 7-3 loss to the Angels in Los Angeles.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. finished the game with one strikeout in four at-bats.

During Friday’s game, Guerrero Jr. will make Blue Jays history.

Avery Chenier of Gate 14 Podcast wrote: “Tonight, Vladimir Guerrero Jr will become the 12th player to play 1000 games as a Toronto Blue Jay. 451 more to become the franchise leader.”

Guerrero Jr. is currently batting .337 with 30 hits, two home runs, 12 RBI’s, 13 runs and one stolen base in 24 games.

He is in his eighth year with the Blue Jays.

@thejaysnation wrote (on April 21): “Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is now 6th all-time in Blue Jays hits with 1106. Prior to last night’s game, he was tied with Jose Bautista.”

Guerrero Jr. has spent all eight seasons of his career playing for Toronto (he was a rookie in 2019).

The 27-year-old has made the MLB All-Star Game in each of the previous five seasons.

He is coming off a year where he batted .292 with 23 home runs, 84 RBI’s, 96 runs and six stolen bases in 156 games.

Last season, Guerrero Jr. helped lead the franchise to Game 7 of the World Series (before they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers).

They have made the MLB playoffs four times during his tenure.

The Blue Jays are currently the fourth-place team in the American League East with a 10-14 record in 24 games.

They are 6-6 in 12 games at home.
