NASCAR and Kaulig Racing have indefinitely suspended Craftsman Truck Series driver Daniel Dye after comments he made during a Whatnot livestream drew strong backlash. The 22-year-old driver of the No. 10 truck, who sits 13th in the 2026 standings, made the remarks while opening trading cards on a live stream.
The situation spread quickly across social media and drew attention from fans and industry figures. Kaulig Racing acted first, followed by NASCAR with its own suspension.
NASCAR confirmed that Dye must complete sensitivity training before he can be considered for reinstatement. No timeline has been given for his return, and his status for the rest of the season remains unclear.
Livestream Comments Trigger Backlash
The incident occurred during a live stream in which Dye spoke about meeting IndyCar driver David Malukas at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in late February. Dye said he did not know much about Malukas before the meeting.
During the stream, Dye imitated Malukas using what he described as a “gay voice.” He repeated exaggerated phrases about Indianapolis and Roger Penske. The clip spread quickly online and drew criticism.
Daniel Dye streamed alongside teammate Brent Crews, who walked away during the comments. Crews has not faced any penalties related to the incident.
NASCAR and Kaulig Racing respond
Kaulig Racing confirmed Daniel Dye’s suspension and said it was “effective immediately” after the team became aware of the remarks. NASCAR followed with its own indefinite suspension.

The sanctioning body stated that Daniel Dye must complete sensitivity training before any return can be considered. NASCAR did not provide a timeline for reinstatement.

Past Record and Season Impact
This is not the first time Daniel Dye has faced disciplinary action. In 2022, while competing in the ARCA Menards Series, he was arrested on a felony battery charge after an incident involving a classmate. The charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor and dismissed. ARCA issued a temporary suspension at that time.
Daniel Dye has made 49 starts in the Truck Series. He recorded a runner-up finish at Nashville in 2024 and earned an ARCA win in 2021. He had been working toward more opportunities in the Xfinity Series.
David Malukas has not responded publicly to the incident. No replacement has been named for the No. 10 truck, leaving Dye’s 2026 season uncertain.
