The Detroit Pistons are expected to make a major announcement on Wednesday, April 8, regarding their star guard, Cade Cunningham.
Earlier this week, the Pistons upgraded Cunningham on the injury report ahead of their action against the Orlando Magic. He was listed as doubtful. As expected, Cunningham didn’t get the nod to play.
Ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Pistons listed Cunningham as questionable. It was another step in the right direction.
The Pistons had a great sign regarding Cunningham’s status on the morning of the matchup, as Cunningham was present for the team’s shootaround. Not long after that, ESPN’s Vince Goodwill reported that Cunningham was on pace to play.

Cade Cunningham Will Return For The Pistons Earlier Than Expected
Cunningham was expected to be re-evaluated later this week.
However, the Pistons clearly feel optimistic about where he is in his recovery from a collapsed lung. Cunningham suffered the injury back on March 17 during a game against the Washington Wizards.
At the time of his diagnosis, the Pistons didn’t offer a guaranteed return. Many believed the Pistons could miss Cunningham for the remainder of the regular season.
However, Cunningham clearly had a speedy recovery process. His return isn’t guaranteed, but he’s on pace.
What’s Next For The Pistons?
The top seed in the Eastern Conference is locked up.
While the Pistons don’t need Cunningham back, the rest of the week gives the All-Star enough time to get settled in again after a long recovery period.
The Pistons will tip off against the Bucks at 7 PM ET on Wednesday.
