The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced two new injury updates for their upcoming game against the Dallas Mavericks while they wait to decide on Anthony Edwards‘ injury return.

While Edwards was previously expected to make his injury return for the Timberwolves’ game on Saturday against the Detroit Pistons, his expected return has since been pushed back to Monday against the Mavericks.

But while the Timberwolves wait to announce a final injury update on their franchise star, they revealed news about two of their players previously on the injury report over the weekend.

On Monday, Minnesota announced that Ayo Dosunmu was taken off the injury report, and expects to play against Dallas.

Dosunmu had previously missed the Timberwolves’ last two games against the Houston Rockets and Pistons with a calf injury that team insider Jon Krawczynski had described as ‘concerning.’

While he did practice on Friday, he was ruled out against Detroit, but now, the trade deadline acquisition has been upgraded to available for their upcoming game.

Dosunmu, who began his career and started this season on the Chicago Bulls, is averaging 13.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists on 52.5% shooting in 18 games in his new home in Minnesota, currently one of the team’s only point guards and playmakers.

Additionally, while Dosunmu was taken off the injury report, the Timberwolves announced that wing player Jaden McDaniels is staying on, currently ruled out for their game against the Mavericks. He missed their last contest against Detroit with a knee injury, and according to a recent update offered by the team, he is set to miss an extended period.

“An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) conducted by Dr. Craig Bennett at Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine on McDaniels revealed left knee patella tendinopathy and a bone bruise. McDaniels will be listed as week-to-week, and further updates of his progress will be provided when available,” they wrote in a statement.

McDaniels is putting up 14.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists on 51.8% shooting in 71 games.

Anthony Edwards Injury Update

GettyNEW YORK, NEW YORK – NOVEMBER 05: Anthony Edwards #5 of the Minnesota Timberwolves warms up before the game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on November 05, 2025 in New York City.

Edwards remains questionable for the Timberwolves in the lead-up to their game against Dallas.

He has been out for nearly two weeks with what is officially described as right knee inflammation. The initial timeline for recovery was one to two weeks, but the latest update signals he is gearing up for a return on Monday.

“All signs are pointing to Edwards returning Monday in Dallas, giving the Timberwolves a needed jolt as the playoffs near,” Krawczynski wrote for The Athletic. “Edwards has been doing individual work at the team’s practice facility this week and was cleared by the team Friday for all on-court basketball activities.”

Edwards has been practicing with the team recently, and while upgraded to questionable over the weekend, it was his first time his injury status had been changed from ‘out’ since he was sidelined with the knee injury.

“Edwards upgraded to questionable. As we reported last night, all signs point to him returning tomorrow night,” Krawczynski wrote about his status for Monday.

In 58 games this season, the star shooting guard is averaging a career-high and third in the NBA 29.5 points, along with 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists on 49.2% shooting from the field. He is at risk of missing out on the NBA’s end-of-season awards due to the ‘65-game rule‘ and will need to play in the rest of their games this season to qualify for the All-NBA team.

The Timberwolves are currently 45-29 and fifth in the Western Conference standings.
