The Philadelphia 76ers still have Joel Embiid on the injury report for Game 2 against the New York Knicks on Wednesday, May 6.

However, the chances of Embiid missing the action are slim. According to the official injury report, Embiid is probable due to a right ankle sprain. It’s another injury designation for the star center, but he hasn’t missed any playoff action since making his 2026 debut against the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the first round.

*UPDATE: Joel Embiid has been ruled out for Wednesday’s action against the Knicks. The update suggests that ankle and hip injuries are what’re keeping him out of the game.

Following the Game 1 victory for the Knicks, some wondered if Mikal Bridges’ shot on Embiid during a screen was necessary.

While Embiid briefly questioned it, he didn’t attempt to make a big deal out of it.

“I got hit on it,” Embiid told reporters. “I don’t know if it was—obviously, based on what’s been going on. I guess I got to protect it more. I don’t know if it was dirty or not. I guess I gotta do a better job of protecting my (stomach), especially that part. It was off the screen. I don’t think that was necessary, because, you know, Tyrese was already gone, and it was kind of like after the play. I just felt like it was unnecessary, but we move on. It’s playoff basketball.”

The Knicks know that Embiid is dealing with multiple ailments. Just a few weeks ago, the star center underwent surgery due to appendicitis. He missed the final few games of the regular season, along with a Play-In matchup, and three playoff games.

New York held Embiid to just 14 points on 3-11 shooting from the field. Eight of his points came from the charity stripe.

Embiid’s night ended after just 25 minutes. The Sixers suffered a 137-98 beatdown to the Knicks, who took a 1-0 lead in the series.

The Knicks expected the 76ers to come back with a better shot. All signs are pointing to Embiid playing for the second game of the series, despite the shot he took from Mikal Bridges in Game 1.
