The Dallas Cowboys made a series of roster moves on defense.

The Dallas Cowboys announced a series of roster moves ahead of the team’s preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday, August 22, 2025. Dallas signed cornerback Michael Ojemudia to add depth in the secondary.

To make room for Ojemudia, the Cowboys cut cornerback Bruce Harmon with an injury designation. Back in April, the Cowboys signed Harmon as an undrafted free agent following a standout career at Stephen F. Austin. Unless Dallas explores a late reunion, it looks like Harmon will not suit up for the Cowboys.

“Harmon, a two-star recruit out of high school, spent his entire five-year career with the Lumberjacks,” Stephen F. Austin Athletics detailed on April 30. “He was named to the 2024 Reece’s Bowl Watchlist before the season.

“This past year, Bruce recorded 21 total tackles, three passes defended, and one interception. Bruce recorded nine interceptions and 22 passes defended over his time with the Lumberjacks, consistently locking down receivers in the process.”

Here’s a look at the latest Cowboys news and rumors.

Ex-Cowboys Rookie CB Bruce Harmon Played 6 College Football Seasons at Stephen F. Austin

Harmon has yet to play an NFL snap but was one of the more experienced Cowboys rookies prior to being released. Thanks to the revised eligibility rules as a result of COVID, Harmon was able to play six seasons for Stephen F. Austin.

“Harmon just completed his sixth season at Stephen F Austin, enrolling and putting on a collegiate uniform a year before the COVID pandemic hit,” Cowboys Wire’s K.D. Drummond wrote on August 6. “Older college players are often judged on a different scale than their younger counterparts, because they have more mature physical characteristics which can often give them an advantage.

“A player with no pro experience being a elder statesman in the locker room is a rare thing in the regular season, but Harmon is hoping to be that guy. … Harmon ran a 4.44-second, 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, with a 4.23-second short shuttle time.”

The Cowboys Could Make a Late Addition With a Veteran CB Like Stephon Gilmore: Insider

Dallas could make some additional moves at corner in the coming weeks. The Cowboys need to be prepared for star cornerback Trevon Diggs not being ready to play Week 1. ESPN’s Todd Archer believes the Cowboys could sign a veteran like Stephon Gilmore and Kendall Fuller.

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the Cowboys have their eyes open. A couple of names to consider: Kendall Fuller and Stephon Gilmore,” Archer explained in an August 19, story titled, “Cowboys face concerns at QB2, LT, DT as preseason finale looms.

The tricky part is the Cowboys expect Trevon Diggs (knee) back if not for the first game or two then maybe by the end of September. Shavon Revel is on a similar track with his recovery from knee surgery, but it would be asking a lot of the third-round pick to play a large role early without much practice.

The Cowboys are running out of time to solidify the team’s secondary before the start of the season. Dallas is a 6.5-point underdog versus the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1, per FanDuel.
