In a fantastic year for the franchise, even more exciting news for the Chargers came out this morning in the form of Prow Bowl selections.

Five Chargers players have been named to the AFC Roster for the 2026 Pro Bowl Games. They include QB Justin Herbert, star safety Derwin James Jr., third year linebacker Tuli Tuipolotu, kicker Cameron Dicker, and offensive lineman Joe Alt, despite his suffering a season-ending injury in Week 9 of this year.

The Chargers will also have four alternates for this game, including Khalil Mack, Del’Shawn Philips, DeShon Jackson, and Scott Matlock.

Chargers Stars Earn Pro Bowl Recognition Despite Adversity

This is Herbert’s second Pro Bowl honor of his career after being selected in 2021. He is currently eighth in the NFL in passing yards with 3,491, and fifth in passing touchdowns with 25. He has also rushed for a career-high 461 yards. All of this has been done with a fractured left hand and several injuries sustained along the offensive line.

Said head coach Jim Harbaugh of Herbert’s moxie: “He’s doing things game after game that are reserved for only the best that are in the game and have ever played the game”. Even teammate Khalil Mack weighed in on the star QB, saying that, “”Knowing a guy like Justin Herbert will go out there seven days after surgery and play, It’s like, ‘Who else in the league is doing that?”

Another two time Pro Bowler, Derwin James Jr. is also having an exceptional season. The Chargers captain has been a stalwart for the team, playing the second most defensive snaps on the team and padding his stats in the process.

He is second on the team in tackles with 86, third in tackles for loss with six, and also has two sacks and two interceptions with a forced fumble to boot.

Most impressively, he is second amongst all safeties with at least 400 snaps in total pressures and is top 10 in terms of QB rating allowed. “When he breaks down the team, three words, ‘Be the best.’ That’s the standard,” Harbaugh said earlier in the season about one of the team’s most vocal leaders.

To no one’s surprise, Cameron Dicker has further cemented his status as one of the best kickers in the NFL with his first Pro Bowl selection. He has made 36 of 38 field goals this season and is perfect on extra points as well. He also has over 140 total points on the season, only one of two kickers to achieve the feat this season.

Tuipolotu is another first year selection as he has had a breakout campaign this year. He has a career high is sacks with 13, as well as pressures, QB hits, and tackles for loss. His 13 sacks rank third most in the league.

The biggest shock is perhaps Alt’s selection considering his injury, but before he suffered it, he was perhaps the best offensive tackle in the league. Across 184 pass blocking snaps, he only allowed a single sack.

This caps off a stellar season for the Chargers as they look to push for both the AFC West title and the No.1 overall seed in the AFC.
