The quarterbacks for the New York Giants are interesting, and the team is being urged to do something with Jaxson Dart before it's too late.

The New York Giants have an interesting quarterback situation, with veteran Russell Wilson in the fold as quarterback No. 1 and rising star Jaxson Dart not far behind. Now, the new season is just a few months away, and the Giants are gearing up for it to start, so there’s a lots of excitement in the camp about what’s ahead.

But, this quarterback situation is really getting the attention of the greater NFL. Now, the team is getting urged to do something with Dart before it’s too late.

In a June 17 feature for Bleacher Report, Kristopher Knox names every NFL Team’s to-do tally for the rest of the 2025 offseason. In the piece, he notes that the NFL has “finally reached the quiet portion of the 2025 NFL offseason. Organized team activities (OTAs) and most mandatory minicamps are over, which means many players are essentially off until the start of training camps.”

But, even now, the powers at be will still be working to ensure that their teams have everything they need going into the new season. As Knox puts it, “coaches, general managers and other team decision-makers will simply be idle over the next month. Whether it’s addressing roster holes, executing trades, signing players to new contracts or laying camp plans, every NFL team has something to accomplish before the end of the summer.”

For the Giants, the biggest thing the team needs to do, according to Knox, is develop Dart. Even thought they have quarterbacks Wilson and Jameis Winston ready to lead the team with their veteran skills and knowledge, now is the time to develop Dart into the quarterback of the future for the Giants. They can do it on the down-low in a sneaky way with Wilson and Winston getting all the attention, too.

“For the New York Giants, head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen, the 2025 campaign may largely ride on their plan at quarterback,” Knox states. “The Giants may not have to be a playoff team for Daboll and Schoen to keep their jobs, but they will have to show improvement over last season and signs that rookie Jaxson Dart can be the future.”

He adds that “the good news is that the Giants seemingly have a solid plan” with Wilson and Winston “who can hold down the QB job early and provide play good enough for the rest of the roster to grow around.”

More Things for the New York Giants To Do, Including a Trade

Knox also urges the Giants to sort through their tight end depth chart and look for linebacker help. While the Giants have done a lot during the offseason to hopefully leave the dismal 2024 season behind them, there’s more to do, as Knox notes.

“On paper, the Giants have addressed several defensive positions. Cornerback Paulson Adebo, safety Jevon Holland and rookie pass-rusher Abdul Carter all project as new starters,” Knox states. “However, New York didn’t do much to improve its linebacker corps.”

He adds, “Schoen would be wise to eye the trade market for an off-ball linebacker and/or consider free agents like C.J. Mosley and Eric Kendricks.”
