The Seattle Seahawks have enjoyed a magical 2025 campaign to this point, and they are now one win away from booking their spot in Super Bowl LX. In order to do that, though, they will have to take down the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game, and as kickoff draws near, all eyes are on Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold.
Ahead of the team’s blowout victory in the divisional round over the San Francisco 49ers, Darnold suffered an oblique injury that threw his status for the game up in the air. Darnold played and managed to make it through unscathed, but his injury situation lingered into the buildup for their clash against the Rams. Ahead of this contest, though, Darnold made it clear that his injury status won’t be an issue this time around.
Sam Darnold Clears the Air on Injury Status
Darnold turned a breakout campaign with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024 into a three-year, $100.5 million contract with the Seahawks in free agency last offseason. In his first season with the team, Darnold turned in another strong campaign, as he threw for 4,048 yards and 25 touchdowns, which helped him earn his second straight Pro Bowl selection.
The main issue with Darnold’s lone season in Minnesota was that he crumbled in the team’s two most important games of the year. So far this time around, though, Darnold has been at his best in the biggest moments for Seattle. Having a lights-out defense and a budding ground game on offense have certainly helped, but Darnold has done precisely what the Seahawks have asked of him to this point.
The best ability is availability, and for a point in time, it seemed like Darnold may be forced to miss some action in the playoffs. While he made it through the Niners game, Darnold’s injury status was always going to be worth watching throughout the week. After being removed from the injury report on Friday, though, Darnold made it clear he’s ready to go for this huge game.
“I’m feeling really good,” Darnold said. “This whole week, I feel like the process has gone right along where it should be. I feel really good for Sunday.”
Sam Darnold Looking to Lead Seahawks to Super Bowl LX

GettyThe Seattle Seahawks just announced a huge update on quarterback Sam Darnold ahead of the team’s NFC Championship game.
It would take a lot to prevent Darnold from playing in a game of this magnitude, so it isn’t all that surprising to see that he’s going to be on the field when Seattle returns to action. And yet, it’s fair to wonder if Darnold is 100% healthy. Few guys are at this time of the year, but after he wasn’t really needed to help the Seahawks win last weekend, that could be a different story this time around against the Rams.
Seattle and Los Angeles have already squared off against each other twice this season, with the teams splitting those matchups. Not only will the winner of this game get bragging rights, but they will also punch their ticket to the Super Bowl. Kickoff for this contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET, and with so much on the line, it’s clear that the stakes could not be much higher.
