Chelsea has made no shortage of moves ahead of the transfer window closing on Tuesday, September 1, but the club is running out of time for more deals. It appears Chelsea has a deal in place with Manchester City for Enzo Fernandez.
Now, Chelsea will be looking to find a replacement for Fernandez before the transfer window closes.
“BREAKING: Enzo Fernández to Manchester City, HERE WE GO!” insider Fabrizio Romano noted on September 1.
“Deal in place for fee over £125m after a long negotiation as Chelsea approved the sale. Enzo only wanted Manchester City and he’s now set for medical at MCFC.”
Unfortunately, Monaco has rejected a $52 million transfer offer for Lamine Camara by Chelsea, per The Athletic’s Simon Johnson and David Ornstein.
“Chelsea have had a bid of €45million (£38.5m; $52.2m) rejected by Monaco for midfielder Lamine Camara,” Johnson and Ornstein detailed in a September 1, story titled, “Chelsea have €45m Lamine Camara bid rejected by Monaco.”
“Talks continue between the clubs ahead of Tuesday’s deadline of 11pm BST (6pm ET). The Athletic reported earlier on Tuesday that Chelsea were keen on a move for the 22-year-old, who represented Senegal at the World Cup.”

The Athletic reports that Chelsea’s push for Camara is not contingent on Fernandez being dealt. Yet, it is clear that Chelsea now has more urgency to land Camara or another midfielder as the club cut ties with Fernandez.
Talk Sport’s Ben Jacobs previously reported that talks between Chelsea and Man City were “not far off” in striking a deal.
“Manchester City confident on agreeing a fee with Chelsea for Enzo Fernandez,” Jacobs noted in a September 1, message on X.
“Feeling remains Chelsea adding is the bigger obstacle. One MCFC bid already placed and rejected, but advanced talks ongoing. Club-to-club agreement not far off, but not the only factor in play.”

Fernandez appeared to make it clear throughout the offseason that the star preferred to move on from Chelsea. Yet, Chelsea did not find an offer to the club’s liking before the last-minute deal with Manchester City.
Fernandez was held out of Chelsea’ two most recent matches amid ongoing transfer rumors. The club was running out of time to make a deal with the transfer window a mere hours away from closing.
“Manchester City are ready to go all-in for Enzo Fernandez,” Romano remarked on August 31, on the eve of Chelsea and Man City agreeing to terms. “The deal is entering crucial key stages. For the very first time, Manchester City are in official club-to-club contact with Chelsea.
“Now the two clubs are negotiating (and) are discussing. There is a bid on the table. Chelsea and Manchester City are talking. Enzo wants to go to Man City. He told Chelsea that his desire is to join City,” Romano added.
“He has an agreement with Manchester City on the contract.”
