The U.S. Women’s Soccer Team overcame a slow start Monday night to defeat Colombia in the Round of 16 of the Women’s World Cup.
Alex Morgan scored in the 53rd minute to break a scoreless tie, then Carli Lloyd put one in on a penalty kick 13 minutes later in the 2-0 win.
The USWNT, which has allowed just 1 goal in 4 matches, advances to the quarterfinals where it will meet China, which is coming off a 1-0 victory over Cameroon.
The match is set for Friday, June 26, from Lansdowne Stadium in Ottawa.
It will air on FOX at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. The winner advances to a semifinal set for Tuesday, June 30.
The United States is 2nd in the latest FIFA rankings, China 16th.
