Luis Suarez will be unavailable for Barcelona’s match today, as they take on local rival Espanyol for the third time in a short stretch. Barca notched a 4-1 victory in the first leg of today’s Copa del Rey matchup, but Barcelona can expect physical play from their neighbors regardless of the score.
Both squads showed no hesitation for tackling in their last match, which often escalated to verbal confrontations as the match progressed. Eight Espanyol players were booked in the match, with two being sent off early. It ultimately spilled into postgame, where Suarez was waiting for Espanyol players in the dressing room tunnel. He lost his appeal on a two-game ban, and will likely return for the second leg of the quarterfinal.
