The Minnesota Vikings are moving on from one of their backup offensive linemen.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Tuesday the Vikings released guard Trevor Keegan. The third-year lineman appeared in the first seven games for Minnesota this year.
“Source: The Vikings are releasing G Trevor Keegan,” wrote Schultz on X.
“The former Michigan standout has played in 7 games this season.”
Keegan began his NFL career as a fifth-round pick for the Philadelphia Eagles. After one season in Philadelphia, he moved on to play for the Dallas Cowboys last season.
This past September, the Vikings claimed Keegan off waivers when the Cowboys waived the lineman in early September.
Across three NFL seasons, Keegan has appeared in 10 games. He has yet to make a start.
With the Vikings this season, he played 30 snaps on special teams. Keegan also received three snaps on offense.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, Keegan started for three seasons at Michigan during his college career. The lineman received praise for his physical traits during the 2024 NFL Draft process.
“He’s always hunting extra work and is made for the physicality of the league but could struggle against the length and athleticism he will see in front of him on passing downs,” wrote NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein. “Keegan has Day 3 draft value but might be able to rise from backup status to eventual starter for a run-heavy team.”
The Vikings confirmed Schultz’s report, announcing on the team website they released Keegan. Minnesota also released tight end Bryson Nesbit from the practice squad Tuesday.
Vikings Release Guard Trevor Keegan: Report
Keegan was already a journeyman two and a half seasons into his NFL career. But this is the first time the guard has been cut midseason.
As a rookie, Keegan made the Eagles roster. He only played in one game for the Eagles — Week 18 versus the New York Giants — but he won a Super Bowl ring as a member of the organization.
Keegan joined the Cowboys before the 2025 campaign. The same thing happened for the guard prior to the 2026 regular season – waived in Dallas and then signed with the Vikings.
In Minnesota, Keegan dressed for all seven contests this fall. While that set a new career high, he played fewer offensive snaps with the Vikings than with the Eagles or Cowboys.
Keegan lined up for his three offensive snaps this season in Week 5. He also averaged 4.28 special teams snaps per week.
Vikings Also Cut TE Bryson Nesbit
In addition to creating an open spot on the active roster, the Vikings made room on their practice squad by parting with Nesbit.
An undrafted free agent from 2025, Nesbit came back to the Vikings just a week ago. He spent 2026 training camp with Minnesota, but the team released him with an injury designation at the roster deadline.
The tight end was with the Vikings last offseason too. Minnesota waived Nesbit in late August that preseason as well, but he spent his rookie campaign on the team’s practice squad.
Nesbit has yet to make his NFL regular season debut.
