Connor Norby: Breaking News

Norby went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Friday's 9-4 win over the Giants. Norby stretched the Marlins' lead to 8-0 in the fourth inning with his blast off Adrian Houser. This was Norby's first homer since April 13. The infielder is batting .244 with a .756 OPS, three long balls, 10 RBI, seven runs scored, five doubles and no stolen bases over 90 plate appearances this season. Norby has operated as the Marlins' primary first baseman lately, though that could change once Christopher Morel (oblique) is activated from the injured list.

Norby is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals. Liam Hicks will fill in at first base for Norby, who will receive a rest for the matinee game after starting in each of the Marlins' previous 11 contests while slashing .282/.326/.436 with one home run, five RBI and three runs. Christopher Morel (oblique) could soon return from the injured list and unseat Norby as the Marlins' primary first baseman, though Norby might still have a path to receiving steady reps at either third base or designated hitter.

Norby went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Monday's 10-4 win over Atlanta. Norby turned on a 93.9 mph sinker from Rolddy Munoz and sent it over the left-field wall in the sixth inning for his second homer of the season. The 25-year-old has been locked in at the plate of late, riding a six-game hitting streak and raising his OPS to .847 through 15 games. With Christopher Morel (oblique) sidelined, Norby has taken advantage of regular opportunities at first base.
