Declan Cronin: Everything you need to know

Cronin (elbow) signed a two-year, minor-league contract with the Rangers on Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. Cronin is slated to miss the entire 2026 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery at the end of September, so the Rangers will bring him in on a two-year deal with the hope of having him contribute to the organization in 2027. When healthy, the 28-year-old reliever turned in a 4.91 ERA and 1.64 WHIP across 22 innings at Triple-A in 2025.

Cronin underwent Tommy John surgery Monday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. Cronin had been on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Jacksonville since mid-August and was released by the Marlins earlier this month. He'll be a free agent while he rehabs and is unlikely to be ready to pitch in a game until 2027.

The Marlins released Cronin (undisclosed) on Saturday. Cronin has been shut down at Triple-A since mid-August with an undisclosed injury, and he'll now end up in free agency to make room on Miami's 40-man roster for Christian Roa. Cronin sports a 4.91 ERA and 1.64 WHIP through 22 innings at Jacksonville but should be able to attract a minor-league deal in the open market.
