Lugo was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday. Lugo will head to the Triple-A level after batting .091 with a double, an RBI, and four strikeouts over 11 at-bats in five contests during spring training. The outfielder produced a .232 average with four home runs, nine RBI and nine runs scored over 69 at-bats in 31 contests with the Angels last season. He'll look to impress with Salt Lake in an attempt to get another crack with the major-league roster in 2026.
The Angels optioned Lugo to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. Lugo had been struggling to garner playing time, starting in just one of the Angels' previous seven contests prior to being sent down. He's posted a .707 OPS with four homers, nine RBI and nine runs over 70 plate appearances in the majors this season but has a 0:24 BB:K. Lugo's return to the minors made room for infielder Christian Moore to rejoin the 26-man roster.
Lugo went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and a second RBI in Saturday's 17-4 loss to the Athletics. Lugo arguably did more off the bench than most of his teammates did over the full game. However, that hasn't been the norm since his most recent call-up from Triple-A Salt Lake -- he's gone just 3-for-19 with six strikeouts and no walks over nine contests since he was brought up Aug. 24. Overall, the 24-year-old has a .213/.226/.475 slash line with four homers, eight RBI, eight runs scored, two doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 62 plate appearances in the majors.
