Fantasy Baseball: Free DraftKings MLB Contest on May 13

Looking to make Wednesday night’s MLB games a little more exciting? Here’s your chance. Heavy’s partners at DraftKings have created a FREE $5,000 baseball beginners only contest for May 13.

Sign up for DraftKings’ MLB $5,000 Free Contest for beginners only right here.

To be considered a beginner, you can not have played more than 50 DraftKings contests in a particular sport. So if you’ve played more than 50 MLB contests on DraftKings, you are not eligible to play in Wednesday’s contest.

The contest gets underway at 7:05 p.m. Eastern so it does not include players from MLB’s afternoon schedule.

The top 1,350 finishers will win a cash prize, with first place receiving $500. Second place gets $100, third $75.

The rules are simple: You get a $50,000 salary cap to spend on 10 players – 2 pitchers, 1 catcher, 1 first baseman, 1 second baseman, 1 shortstop, 1 third baseman and 3 outfielders. The better your selected players do, the better your fantasy team does.

Since it’s a free contest, you won’t accumulate any Frequent Player Points (FPPs). You can only earn FPPs by playing DraftKings contests with a cash buy-in.

As a first-time user with DraftKings, when you sign up and are prompted for a promo code, enter “HEAVY.”

As for who you want in your lineup, a few players are beginning to heat up at the plate, including Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre and Mariners 2B Robinson Cano. Pitching-wise, Matt Harvey of the Mets is on the hill tonight, but his salary is a bit high and he has not exactly fared well against the Cubs. I am leaving him out of my lineup. Hopefully not regrettably. I have picked my roster for the contest and feel it is capable of winning some cash. Check it out below:
