No Tony Romo. No Dez Bryant. The Dallas Cowboys offense won’t look much like the Dallas Cowboys offense on Sunday afternoon but the team might actually have bigger problems ahead of it.
Dallas needs to focus on its defense in week three, taking on an undefeated Atlanta Falcons team that is riding a wave named Julio Jones.
Jones has 22 receptions in two games for a whopping 276 yards. That’s a fairly ridiculous number and right now the veteran wideout is on pace to shatter all kinds of NFL records. It’s only week three but neither the Philadelphia Eagles nor the New York Giants could find a way to slow down Jones and the Cowboys don’t exactly boast a particularly strong secondary.
Dallas needs to bring pressure on defense, get in Matt Ryan’s face, force him into uncomfortable situations in the pocket. Because, right now, the only way to slow down Jones is to make sure he doesn’t get the ball at all.
