The Patriots saw the worst thing they could possibly see late in the game against the Broncos. Rob Gronkowski injured his leg and was carted off the field.
If the injury turns out to be serious, Scott Chandler would likely become the starting tight end for the Patriots. He would become a must add fantasy player in all formats.
Chandler scored a touchdown when Gronkowski was still in the game. He would have even more value if he becomes the starter in an offense that targets the tight end as often as New England does.
Chandler finished the game with 12 fantasy points in standard scoring leagues. It should be noted his production occurred while Gronkowski was still in the game.
Video footage of Gronkowski showed he was able to put weight on his leg.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Patriots do not believe the injury is serious:
Chandler would only be worth adding in fantasy leagues if Gronkowski is forced to miss time. Most leagues have waivers that run in the middle of the week and Gronk’s status should be more clear by then.
