Are the Tennessee Titans the best 2-6 team in the NFL?
Carolina should not take Tennessee lightly when they take their undefeated record to Nasvhille on Sunday. The Titans have only won two games, but both come courtesy of the Panthers’ NFC South division mates.
Tennessee is heading home, where they have lost five straight games this season. That sounds terrible, sure, but the Titans have had close calls throughout the season. In their last home appearance against Atlanta, it was Zach Mettenberger under center for the Titans as they fell short 10-7. Had Marcus Mariota been able to play, there’s a good chance the Titans muster more than seven points. The Titans were 0-2 without Mariota in the lineup, and with him, the Titans lost the previous two games by a combined three points.
So while the Titans record looks unimpressive, they have had some noteworthy performances thus far. After a win in New Orleans last week, the Panthers took notice.
“Them going to New Orleans and beating them should raise a flag,” Panthers defensive tackle Dwan Edwards told reporters earlier this week. “If we’re not on top of our stuff, we can get beaten.”
