The New York Jets have been good. Now, they need to be even better.

Because of tiebreakers and conference records, Gang Green could actually still, technically, miss out on a playoff berth even if they win out for the rest of the season. They’re also likely to miss the postseason with just one loss. So, it’s probably in the best interest of the Jets if they keep winning. That means a victory on Saturday night against a Dallas Cowboys squad that is more or less simply looking for this year to be over.

Can New York keep things going? After all, this offense has been one of the most surprising groups in the entire league. The pressure is, as they say, on. Here’s everything you need to know about the matchup:

Game Preview: The New York Jets offense has been surprising this year. Ryan Fitzpatrick has settled into his role under center and the duo of Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker at wide receiver has been a touchdown-catching machine over the last few weeks.

It’s been good. It’s been impressive. It’s also not the only reason the Jets are winning.

That, of course, has to do with New York’s defense.

Coming into Week 15, Gang Green leads the league in run defense and are No. 19 against the pass. That’s a good thing for Jets fans on Saturday night. The Cowboys are still reeling a bit offensively and Matt Cassel is likely going to be running for his life (and his arm) a bit on Saturday.

If New York can get into the backfield and fluster Cassel enough to force the Cowboys to turn to their run game, things are going to get pretty defensive, pretty quickly. That’s exactly what the Jets need.
