US Open Play Suspended: When Will Round 1 Resume?

Final Update: Play has officially been suspended for the day.

Round 1 play will continue Friday at 7:30 a.m. ET. You can click here for more information about tee times.


UPDATE No. 2: Play resumed at 2:34 p.m. ET, but it was delayed for the third time of the day at about 3:52 p.m. ET:

And it’s not light rain this time around, either:

It seems like it’ll be a good while before play restarts.


UPDATE No. 1: The first weather delay, which lasted 79 minutes, concluded at 11:23 a.m. ET but a second delay again suspended play nearly an hour later at 12:07 p.m. ET:

The rain has softened greens and allowed the opportunity for some lower-than-expected scores, but the stopping and starting is undoubtedly frustrating for the players.

According to the FOX Sports 1 broadcast, officials decided to send players back to the clubhouse at 12:48 p.m. ET, meaning the delay will be longer than initially expected. The next update will come at 1:45 p.m. ET:

We only got a couple hours into the 2016 U.S. Open before Mother Nature took over.

Or, at least threatened to take over. With thunderstorms and lightning on the way at Oakmont, Round 1 play was suspended at about 10:05 a.m. ET:

The official time of restart has been set for 11:18 a.m. ET:

Just know that the weather for the rest of the day is far from encouraging, and this may not be the last delay we see.
