The hosts meet the favorites on Thursday for the second semifinal of Euro 2016. France and Germany battle for the right to meet Portugal in Sunday’s final, with the latter squad missing key players ahead of the fixture.
Joachim Low will be forced to turn to his bench on Thursday, as both Mario Gomez and Sami Khedira are out with injuries. Mats Hummels is also out with a suspension, with Bastian Schweinsteiger likely taking his place at the back.
After a 5-2 thrashing of Iceland, Didier Deschamps’ squad has a clean bill of health. France were hardly tested, and were able to sit any players that acquired a yellow card. N’Golo Kante was suspended for the match against Iceland, but it is unknown if he will return to the lineup over Moussa Sissoko.
These teams met for a friendly in November, with the result being overshadowed by the Paris attacks that day.
