College football proved it is just as unpredictable as ever last week with a few notable upsets including Penn State's victory over Ohio State. We were one point away from going a respectable 3-2, but Vegas nailed the Texas A&M-Alabama line on the nose. Instead, we ended up 2-3 but did hit on both of the MAC picks for the week. This week, we look to the ACC, Sun Belt and Mountain West for our selections. The selections include one of the marquee matchups of the week in Clemson-Florida State, but we also go off the beaten path with a couple smaller conference games. The lines listed are courtesy of OddsShark and are subject to change. Picks are listed in order from least to greatest level of confidence. No. 5 Wyoming +13.5 Over Boise State
Spread: Boise State by 13.5
Last Week: Wyoming Won 42-34 Over Nevada, Boise State Won 28-27 Over BYU
Take the Points: Boise State needs to be on upset alert this week against Wyoming. Boise State comes into the matchup undefeated at 7-0 but has struggled against the spread this season at just 3-4. Wyoming stands at 5-2 straight up and against the spread. While I think the Broncos ultimately will win the game, it will be closer than the two touchdowns Vegas expects. The Broncos last two games have been narrow victories over Colorado State and BYU. (Getty)

No. 4 Miami -2.5 Over Notre Dame
Spread: Miami by 2.5
Last Week: Miami Lost 37-16 to Virginia Tech, Notre Dame Had a Bye Week
Why Miami Covers: Notre Dame has gone from having a disappointing season to proving they are simply a bad team at 2-5 this season. Their lone wins came against Nevada and Syracuse. After a red-hot start to the season against the spread, the Hurricanes have had a bad October. I like this matchup for Miami as a get-right game against a crumbling Irish team. The OddsShark computer is also bullish on Miami to bounce back. The computer is projecting a 36.3-23.9 Miami victory. Go with the Hurricanes in this matchup. (Getty)

No. 3 Clemson -4.5 Over Florida State
Spread: Clemson by 4.5
Last Week: Both Teams Had a Bye Week
Why Clemson Covers: Both teams are coming off a bye and have had two weeks to prepare for this big matchup. Clemson is the better team and the metrics back this up. While the Tigers have struggled against average teams, they have played their best football against the top teams on their schedule. Clemson is ranked 4th in the S&P+ rankings while Florida State is ranked 14th. The OddsShark computer projects a 39.4-30.2 Clemson victory over Florida State. Look for Clemson to pull away in the fourth quarter on Saturday night. (Getty)

No. 2 Virginia Tech -4.5 Over Pitt
Spread: Virginia Tech by 4.5
Last Week: Virginia Tech Won 37-16 Over Miami, Pitt Had Bye Week
Why Virginia Tech Covers: After a slip up against Syracuse, Virginia Tech recovered nicely last week with a blowout win over Miami. This week, they face a Pitt team that is just 2-5 against the spread. While they have a 5-2 record overall, the Panthers have taken advantage of beating bad teams. Virginia Tech is the better team in this matchup and the metrics prove that. The Hokies are ranked 12th in the S&P+ rankings while the Panthers are ranked 33rd. The OddsShark computer is projecting an 8 point victory for Virginia Tech backing my belief in the Hokies to perform well in this matchup. (Getty)

No. 1 Appalachian State -5 Over Georgia Southern
Spread: Appalachian State by 5
Last Week: Appalachian State Won 37-19 Over Idaho, Georgia Southern Won 22-19 Over New Mexico State
Why Appalachian State Covers: Georgia Southern is a dismal 1-6 against the spread this season. The Eagles barely beat New Mexico State after losing three straight games. Appalachian State is one of the best teams in the Sun Belt with their only losses this season coming against Tennessee and Miami. Look for the Mountaineers to dominate an average Georgia Southern team in Thursday night FunBelt action.(Getty)
