Monaco and Juventus will clash on Wednesday in the first leg of a unique Champions League semifinal matchup.
The styles and squads of Juventus and Monaco are different in all the best ways. Monaco love to score, Juventus love to defend. Monaco’s goals come from 18-year old Kylian Mbappe, while Juventus are anchored by 39-year old Gianluigi Buffon in goal.
Juventus, who are on their way to a sixth straight Serie A title, have not allowed a Champions League goal in 531 minutes. Monaco have a one-game lead over PSG atop Ligue 1, and became the first team ever to have scored at least three goals in all four Champions League knockout matches.
Juventus shut down Porto and Barcelona to reach the semifinal, while Monaco outscored Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.
Sami Khedira is suspended for the matchup, while Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko will likely wear a face mask so he can play with a broken nose.
