NHL fans can prepare themselves for another Game 7 on Wednesday night.

The Washington Capitals went into Pittsburgh and staved off elimination on Monday, defeating the Penguins, 5-2, to set up a win-or-go-home at the Verizon Center.

Here’s everything you need about one of the greatest things in all of sports–a Game 7:

Preview

Two games facing elimination, and two wins for the Capitals. The offensive attack has exploded at the right time for the Capitals, as they’ve now scored eight goals over the last four periods. Nicklas Backstrom added another goal, giving him four in this series and six in the postseason, while Evgeny Kuznetsov’s assist ran his point total to six for the series.

The Capitals scored twice on four power plays, got off 26 shots, took advantage of a variety of Washington mistakes and just simply out-classed the Penguins.

Of course, for as good as Washington’s offense was in Game 6, the defense was right on par. The Caps held Pittsburgh to just 18 shots on goal, killed all three of the Penguins’ power plays, only allowed the two goals when the game was already decided, and, perhaps most importantly, made Sidney Crosby really uncomfortable for most of the game.

Crosby did manage to hit the post once, but other than that there weren’t a whole lot of real scoring opportunities for him or the Penguins in what was a putrid all-around performance.

Penguins fans will be hoping that an elimination game wakes up their team, because if Pittsburgh’s effort is anything even remotely close to what it was on Monday night, its season will be ending very soon.
