With the US Open just over a week away, the FedEx St. Jude Classic is severely lacking in star power.
World No. 9 Rickie Fowler, fresh off a second-place finish at the Memorial, is the highest ranked golfer in the field at TPC Southwind. He’s followed by Adam Scott, Brooks Koepka, Francesco Molinari, Charl Schwartzel and Phil Mickelson, making it just six players inside the Top 25.
Fowler, who now has a win, five Top-10’s and eight Top-25’s in 11 events this season, is unsurprisingly the oddsmakers’ favorite at +750. That said, while Fowler has just one start here in 2014, guys like Koepka (+1100) and Mickelson (+1600) boast the superior course history. Koepka has finished third and second in last two starts at this tournament, while Lefty–who will miss next week’s major as he attends his daughter’s high-school graduation–has gone a ridiculous second, 11th, third and second in his last four starts here.
