Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers have started off their new era for the program with enormous success in the NCAA transfer portal.
After deciding to leave the Ole Miss Rebels to become the new head coach at LSU, Kiffin wanted to turn the program back into a contender by next season. With the moves he has been able to make thus far, he has a chance of doing just that.
While the transfer portal success is great, Kiffin will need to dominate the high school recruiting battle as well.
Keeping that in mind, Kiffin may have his eyes set on the brother of standout quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. Even though Nussmeier is set to take his talents to the NFL, his brother, Colton Nussmeier, is receiving strong interest from the Tigers.
LSU, Lane Kiffin Have High Chance of Landing Colton Nussmeier
The younger Nussmeier, who is a four-star quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class, has been recruited well by LSU. He has plenty of other teams interested as well, but the Tigers are currently leading the way.
According to On3 Sports and Rivals, LSU has been given a 98.3 percent chance of landing Nussmeier’s commitment.
Nussmeier, who hails from Flower Mound, Texas, is currently rated a four-star quarterback. He has been ranked as the No. 6 quarterback in the 2027 class and the No. 73 overall player in the nation.
Behind the Tigers, the Georgia Bulldogs, Florida Gators, and Alabama Crimson Tide are all being given a less than one percent chance of being able to steal Nussmeier away from LSU.
While there is still work to be done to secure Nussmeier’s final commitment, Kiffin will have a good chance of doing so if he chooses.
What Has LSU Done in the NCAA Transfer Portal This Year?
As previously mentioned, Kiffin has put in a lot of work in the transfer portal. He has brought in a lot of top-tier talent, although the Tigers did lose some talented pieces as well.
Among the top additions for the Tigers and Kiffin are pass rusher Princewill Umanmielen, offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, safety Ty Benefield, wide receiver Tre’ Brown III, wide receiver Jayce Brown, linebacker TJ Dottery, and offensive lineman Devin Harper.
There are plenty of other players who have committed to LSU that will play instant key roles for the program as well.
Turning around a program is no easy task. Kiffin was able to do it during his time at Ole Miss and he’s off to a great start with the Tigers.
If he can continue finding elite success in the transfer portal and on the recruiting trail like he has throughout his entire career, Kiffin will have LSU back contending for national championships in the near future. Things are looking up for the Tigers.
