The Arizona Diamondbacks are set to begin a three-game set with the Chicago Cubs this week, and it’s a big series for the Dbacks with NL Wild Card implications on the line.
Arizona is still in the thick of things in the NL playoff picture, despite the ongoing saga surrounding star infielder Ketel Marte, who is currently on the 10-day IL with a knee issue. The IL designation may be a precautionary tag on Marte and serve more as a ‘break’ away from the team.
During the Cubs series, Arizona received a new update regarding Marte and his activation.

GettyNew details are coming out about Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop being put on the restricted list.
Per reports by Francys Romero, Ketel Marte is “tentatively expected” to return from the IL next Tuesday, after his 10 days are up, and he is seemingly ready to be activated. The Diamondbacks play the Phillies that day.

Just a few days ago, while rehabbing, Ketel Marte was spotted at a casino near his rehab facility, which drew criticism from fans and even his manager, Tory Lovullo.
Over 469 at-bats this season, Marte is batting .249 wth 21 home runs, 23 doubles, 65 runs scored, 67 RBI, and an OPS+ of 107.
There have been a lot of rumors going around surrounding Ketel Marte and his status in the Diamondbacks clubhouse, and how teammates will respond to his return.
One thing is certain: there will be a microscope on Ketel Marte, and he will have to play hard (aka hustle) to earn back the trust of the fans and media at this time.
