The New York Mets announced a decision on Juan Soto

On Wednesday afternoon, the New York Mets will finish their three-game series against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park.

The Mets most recently lost 8-3 and have now lost the first two games of the series.

All-Star Juan Soto went 1-for-4 in Tuesday’s loss.

New York Mets Announce Juan Soto Decision for Mariners Game

The New York Mets have announced their lineup ahead of Wednesday’s series finale with the Mariners.

Underdog MLB posted on X: “Mets 6/3 C. Benge RF B. Bichette SS J. Soto DH J. Young 1B B. Baty 3B M. Semien 2B A. Ewing CF M. Melendez LF L. Torrens C F. Peralta SP”

After playing left field in the first two games of the series, Juan Soto will serve as the team’s designated hitter for the series finale. It will mark the 20th time this season Soto is the team’s DH.

Despite the Mets struggles this season, Soto has provided elite offensive production. In 44 games played, Soto is batting .296, with 48 hits, 13 home runs, 29 RBIs, a .385 on-base percentage, and a National League best .959 OPS.

Social Media Reactions

Even with Soto’s production, the New York Mets are in danger of falling 10 games under .500 once again if they are swept in the series finale. As a result, the team’s lineup announcement was met with the following reactions on social media, with a particular disdain for struggling shortstop Bo Bichette:

@JDevilSports: “Bichette is literally batting under .150 for a sustained stretch and continues killing us in the two hole. Make it make any sort of sense.”

@The_Gildz: “Bichette has a .570 OPS and hasn’t batted below 4th one time this season.  Imagine any other team doing this? 😂”
@Ant_S2121: “Another day and Mets are still the only team all time to consistently hit their worst hitter in the 2 hole”

@Dpress123: “What has Bo done to deserve batting 2nd right now? The guy absolutely stinks right now and provides no protection for Soto whatsoever.”

@Jimlovessha: “Good move dumping Vientos from the lineup. The guy is absolutely horrendous. Next sit down Baty. Decent third baseman, but can’t hit a lick.”
