On Sunday, the New York Mets lost to the Chicago Cubs by a score of 2-1 at Wrigley Field.

Despite very high expectations, the Mets are the worst team in the MLB (and in the middle of an 11-game losing streak).

With the team struggling (and the season well underway), it’s worth noting that a recent Mets player is a free agent.

As of April 20, Jesse Winker still remains available to sign with any team in the league.

Winker is coming off a season (for the Mets) where he batted .229 with one home run, ten RBI’s, eight runs and one stolen base in 26 games.

Winker was picked in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft.

He is most known for his five-year run with the Cincinnati Reds where he made the 2021 All-Star Game.

In that span, Winker batted .288 with 66 home runs, 190 RBI’s and 214 runs in 413 games.

Following the Reds, Winker had stints with the Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee Brewers, Washington Nationals (and Mets).

He has played nine MLB seasons.

There is no question the status of Winker will be something for MLB fans to monitor the rest of the season.
