On Saturday, the Pittsburgh Pirates will continue their series with the Philadelphia Phillies at PNC Park.

They are coming off an 11-9 loss (on Friday).

Konnor Griffin finished the loss with one hit, one run and one RBI in five at-bats.

For Saturday’s game, the Pirates have announced their starting lineup.

Griffin will be batting second for only the second time in his MLB career.

The 20-year-old has mostly been at the bottom of the order (as seventh or eighth).

Right now, he is batting .254 with 36 hits, three home runs, 20 RBI’s, 19 runs and 10 stolen bases in his first 39 MLB games.

Griffin’s Background

Griffin was the ninth pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.

He is one of the best prospects in the history of the Pirates.

In five Triple-A games this season, Griffin batted .438 with seven hits, one RBI, four runs and three stolen bases.

Pirates Right Now

The Pirates come into Saturday’s game as the fourth-place team in the National League Central with a 24-21 record in 45 games.

That said, they are just 2.5 games back of the Milwaukee Brewers for second (and 5.0 games behind the Chicago Cubs for first).

Following two more games with the Phillies, the Pirates will head to St. Louis for a series with the Cardinals on Tuesday.

This year, they are looking to make the MLB playoffs for the first time since 2015.

The Phillies are the second-place team in the National League East with a 22-23 record in 45 games.

They are 10-11 in 21 games on the road.
