The Blue Jays got some promising news in their pursuit of Kyle Tucker.

The Toronto Blue Jays had a big 2025 season. The American League East team finished the campaign with a 94-68 record, which was good enough for them to win their division.

The Blue Jays then saw success during the playoffs, as they defeated the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series and then the Seattle Mariners in seven games during the American League Championship Series. With this, the Blue Jays won the American League pennant for the first time since 1993.

Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, they would then fall to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. The Dodgers defeated the Blue Jays in Game 7 in extra innings, which led to Los Angeles winning their second consecutive World Series championship.

Now, after losing Game 7 of the World Series in a heartbreaking fashion to the Dodgers, the Blue Jays are a team on a mission. They are aggressively looking to strengthen their roster and already brought in star pitcher Dylan Cease this offseason. Yet, their top free agent target now is star outfielder Kyle Tucker.

Tucker is generating a ton of interest, and it is no secret that the Blue Jays want to win the sweepstakes. Now, a promising update has been provided on the possibility of the Blue Jays winning the Tucker sweepstakes.

Blue Jays Named Best Free Agency Fit for All-Star Kyle Tucker

In a recent article for The Athletic, Jim Bowden matched each top MLB free agent with the team that they would best fit on. When it came to Tucker, Bowden went with the Blue Jays, as he views the star outfielder as the perfect target for Toronto.

“The Blue Jays would love to sign Tucker to be their everyday right fielder for the next decade as he fits everything they like in terms of being a complete player. It will be scary if he lands in Toronto with the team the Blue Jays already have in place,” Bowden wrote.

When looking at the Blue Jays’ current roster, there is no question that they could use a big-time star like Tucker on it. He would give their lineup a significant boost and would be a major upgrade to their right field position, as Bowden notes.

Tucker is also coming off another strong season. In 136 games this past season with the Chicago Cubs, he had 22 home runs, 73 RBIs, and a .266 batting average. With this, he was named to his fourth consecutive All-Star Game, so there is no question that he would be a game-changing addition to the Blue Jays’ roster if signed.

Blue Jays Have Big Competition for Tucker

With Tucker being a big star and among the best free agents left, it is no secret that he is generating a ton of interest right now. Due to this, the Blue Jays have plenty of competition in the Tucker sweepstakes. Bowden noted that the two other teams that stand out as prime fits for Tucker are the Dodgers and New York Yankees.

The Dodgers are never afraid to make a big move, and they undoubtedly could use a star like Tucker in their outfield as they look to three-peat. As for the Yankees, they could use another big-time slugger in their lineup as well, so they certainly are a team to watch.

It will be intriguing to see if Toronto can end up landing Tucker from here.
