In addition to their big win over Boston, head coach Mike Brown made team history.

Knicks PR wrote: “Coach Mike Brown has earned his 52nd win of the season, surpassing Pat Riley (1991-92) for the most wins in a Knicks head coach’s first season.”

Brown was hired over the offseason.

He replaced Tom Thibodeau (who had been there for five years).

Brown’s Coaching Career

Brown got his start as a head coach at just 35 when he took over the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2006.

They reached the NBA Finals in his second season at the helm.

He then coached the Sacramento Kings for part of three seasons.

Knicks Right Now

So far, Brown has looked like the right hire for New York.

They are the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 52-28 record in 80 games.

Over their last ten games, the Knicks have gone 7-3 (and they are in the middle of a four-game winning streak).

Following the Celtics, they will play their final two games of the season against the Toronto Raptors and Charlotte Hornets.

SNY’s Ian Begley wrote: “Josh Hart had 23 points in 2nd half (5-for-6 from 3) to help lift Knicks to win over BOS. Hart’s 3 late threes helped NYK maintain lead/pull away in 4th. Jalen Brunson had 5 assists down the stretch, finished with 25p & 10a. Karl-Anthony Towns had 7p in 4th, 16p & 12r overall.”

That said, the franchise has been unable to win a title since 1973.
