Key New York Knicks Player Suffers Injury Against Thunder

On Monday night, the New York Knicks played the Oklahoma City Thunder (in Oklahoma).

The Knicks lost by a score of 111-100.

Miles McBride returned to action, finishing with one rebound, one assist and one block while shooting 0/3 from the field in 11 minutes of playing time.

However, McBride left the game with an injury (and did not return).

SNY’s Ian Begley wrote during the game: “Miles McBride is playing his first game back since sports hernia surgery in mid Feb. NBC reports McBride is doubtful to return and is being evaluated. Sports hernia surgery repairs damaged/torn tendons that attach to the pelvis. In some cases, tendons that attach the thigh muscles to the adductors are stretched/torn. Knicks are probably (obviously) hoping that this isn’t an injury to the same area.”

McBride’s Career

McBride was the 36th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft out of West Virginia.

He is currently averaging 12.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest while shooting 43.4% from the field and 42.0% from three-point range in 35 games this year.

His health will be a big factor going forward.

Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints wrote during the game: “Knicks guard Miles McBride, who just returned from a several-week absence due to a sports hernia injury, just exited the game gingerly walking with what seemed to be some sort of leg/groin injury.”

McBride has spent all five seasons of his pro career in New York.

He has helped them reach the NBA playoffs in each of the previous three years.

With their loss to the Thunder, the Knicks dropped to 48-27 in 75 games, which has them as the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

They are in the middle of a two-game losing skid (but have still won seven out of their last ten).

On the road, the Knicks have gone 20-18 in 38 games away from Madison Square Garden.

Following the Thunder, they will play their next game on Tuesday evening when they visit Alperen Sengun and the Houston Rockets in Texas.
