The Buffalo Bills and general manager Brandon Beane have put in a lot of work on the wide receiver room this offseason.
Over the last couple of years, the team has received some harsh criticism for failing to surround superstar quarterback Josh Allen with enough talent. That has changed this offseason.
Early on, the Bills made an aggressive move to acquire star wideout D.J. Moore in a trade with the Chicago Bears. They also brought in Skyler Bell during the 2026 NFL Draft, who is expected to have a shot at being an instant impact player.
With those two moves, Buffalo isn’t expected to bring back Brandin Cooks. Beane and the front office made the move to sign Cooks in the middle of last season. He showed flashes of playmaking ability, but he’ll likely need to find a new team to play his next chapter with.
Keeping that in mind, a bitter AFC rival has been suggested as a potential landing spot for Cooks this offseason.
Bills Could See Brandin Cook Sign With the Chiefs
Brandon Ray of Fansided has predicted that the Chiefs will be Cooks’ ultimate landing spot this offseason. He would join forces with Patrick Mahomes to bring more deep threat ability to the Kansas City offense.
“Brandin Cooks signed with the Bills late last season to try and give a spark to the wide receiver room. It took him a little bit to get adjusted, but he did make some solid plays in the playoffs for Buffalo,” Ray wrote.
“If he does indeed want to continue his NFL career, the Chiefs could use more wide receiver help to surround Patrick Mahomes. Cooks isn’t in his prime anymore, but can still provide a little bit of value.”
Cooks has played in the NFL since the 2014 season. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints with the No. 20 overall pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft and has carved out a nice career for himself.
Losing him wouldn’t be a tough blow for the Bills. However, if he were to sign with the Chiefs, he would have a chance to come back and bite Buffalo in 2026.
Josh Allen Has to Be Excited About the Buffalo Offense This Season
On the outside looking in, the Bills have the makings of the best offense they have had in a few years.
Allen is a top-five quarterback in the NFL. James Cook has been playing like one of the best running backs in football. The new-look wide receiver room will be much-improved from last season and both Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid are excellent tight ends.
Buffalo should be among the most lethal offensive units in football.
In recent years, the Bills have come up just short of winning a Super Bowl. Beane and the Buffalo front office have made a clear statement that they are all-in on winning this time around. Hopefully, they have done enough to make that happen.
