In recent years, the Detroit Lions have experienced a resurgence, finally rewarding generations of fans that had stuck with the club through thick and thin. While Detroit’s two-year run at the top of the NFC North Division came to a close in the 2025 NFL season, they have their sights set on proving that was an anomaly and not the new norm.
For wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, he’s broken out as one of the NFL’s best players at his position, and he’s been feeling the love from Detroit’s fan base. Not only is he beloved in Lions circles, but he always gets a warm reception when he makes an appearance at a nearby Detroit sporting event as evidenced by his multiple appearances at Detroit Pistons postseason games at Little Caesars Arena.
The Motor City sports scene offers an energy that athletes can’t ignore, and St. Brown is right in the thick of it.
Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown Doesn’t Hold Back On Detroit Sports Fans
St. Brown recently likened the energy at Little Caesars Arena for Detroit Pistons postseason games to the contagious energy that the fans who packed Ford Field for Detroit’s postseason games against the Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Washington Commanders provided.
“Just watching those games, the energy is amazing in that arena,” St. Brown said. “It does remind me of playoff football at Ford Field, having flashbacks to when we played the Rams and the Bucs. The energy in (our) stadium was something I’ve never seen before, so it’s definitely kind of nostalgic being in that arena. It’s a little different, obviously, than a football field, less people, but the Detroit fans are some of the best fans ever, so definitely looking forward to getting back to that.”
Meanwhile, when looking ahead to the upcoming 2026 NFL season, St. Brown indicated that the club has put last season’s disappointing finish in the rear view mirror and is looking ahead to bigger and better things.
“Last year is behind us now,” said St. Brown, “and I think we’re all happy for that because last year was not the year that any of us wanted and expected. Going into this year we’re doing everything we can to get back to what we are and what we were, and I think everyone is just excited and motivated.”
St. Brown: The Lions Are Motivated To Resume Winning
When asked what the team’s mentality is coming into the new season, St. Brown responded that they’re ready to begin winning again.
“You can become numb to losing as you can winning,” St. Brown said. “I feel like we won so many games these past three years that you feel like you can just keep getting by with what we were doing, and the target only gets bigger on your back as you keep winning games,” he said. “Teams know you’re a good team, they want to beat you, they want to come to Ford Field and beat you — and that’s not changing. Teams still know who we are and what we can do. And for us, we’re motivated.
“We know what we gotta do to get back, and I think we got the right guys to do it.”
